Game Preview Week Six vs Jacksonville

Carolina Cobras (5-0) vs Jacksonville Sharks (1-4)

Greensboro Coliseum

Saturday Night 7pm

Cancer Awareness Night

PREGAME NOTES

Five 1-0 weeks complete:  The Cobras went to 5-0 on the season.  They defended the home field for the third time this season, using the force to dismantle the San Antonio Gunslingers 72-35, the most points the Cobras have scored since scoring 72 against Orlando in Greensboro in July of 2019.

Going Different Directions:  With the Cobras coming into this game off and dominating win, and the Sharks coming in off a dominating loss to the Albany Empire 62-29, you know the Sharks are going to be coming into the Greensboro Coliseum hungry.  We are a third of the way through the season and right now the Sharks are on the outside of the playoff picture, and looking for a way back in.  Not to mention, records have never mattered in this matchup, as these two teams have been rivals since the Cobras very first game back in 2018.

Why This Game is Important:  The Cobras want to continue to come out of every week 1-0 and this will be the next opportunity for them.  The Sharks are fighting to try to get back into a playoff position.

Shark Fin Soup or JAWS?  The Sharks had a really tough travel adventure getting to Albany last week, and then their starting QB Malik Henry went out during the game against Albany and was not seen on the sidelines.  His status for Saturday is unknown at this time, the Sharks backup QB at the time of this preview is Damion May, who went 5-16 against the Empire Saturday after coming in for Henry.  So the Cobras are going to have to likely wait until Saturday to see who is under center.  WR Devin Wilson saw his streak of a TD caught in 31 consecutive games come to an end in Albany as well.  This team is going to be hungry coming into the Snake Pit, and have a lot to prove.

Next Opportunity:  People did question the Cobras on how good they really were after the close game in Orlando and they answered that question Friday night against the Gunslingers, but as in life, it all comes down to what you can do next.  Will the Cobras be able to go 1-0 for the sixth time in a row, or will the Sharks bloody the water in the Snake Pit?

Coach Says:  We asked Head Coach Josh Resignalo his thoughts going into the game, he said, “Every week is just as important as the next one, or the last one.  We are looking to go 1-0 each week.  Another opportunity this week against a tough, hungry Jacksonville team.  They are looking to get on track and we have to handle our business and keep that from happening.  We again, like I say each week, are our own worst enemy.  We have to control and play Cobras’ football.  We need the Snake Pit to come alive once again Saturday night for another chance to go 1-0!!”

History:  The Series is tied at four wins each.

Last Meeting:  Just three weeks ago the Cobras defeated the Sharks 53-48 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Why you should be at the Greensboro Coliseum Saturday Night at 7pm:  Triad, the Snake Pit needs YOU!  It is Cancer Awareness Night at the Coliseum.  Sharks don’t like loud noise, so we need to bring the volume and the energy to send them back to Jacksonville with their fifth loss of the season. So bring your friends, neighbors and even strangers you meet on the street to the Greensboro Coliseum, ticket are available at the box office, through Ticketmaster or you can call 336-455-7232
