Carolina Rivalry Continues in Week 9

GREENSBORO, NC –  The (4-1) Carolina Cobras take on the (3-3) Fayetteville Mustangs to continue the Carolina rivalry also known in the NAL as the Battle for the Carolinas. After a four straight wins the Cobras are on a roll in fact your Cobras have not lost a game since week one and are undefeated at home in the Snake Pit in 2023. Luckily the Cobras look to extend their streaks as they play in the Snake Pit again this Saturday. This week we have the Fayetteville Mustangs (3-3) the Carolina rivalry is coming to Greensboro for the first time in NAL history. Last time these two teams met was May 17th where the rivalry sparked in Fayetteville at the Crown Coliseum. The Carolina Cobras came out of that fight with the win as they gained their largest offensive win with season-high 72-34 victory over their in-state rival.

Last week the Cobras had a bye and the Mustangs added a 49-27 win against the Albany Empire. Back in the Snake Pit the Cobras look to continue their undefeated streak at home in front of our fans. Two Cobras players that fans are looking to return to the field are WR/LB Jalen Rima and WR/DB Miles Kelly who both are activated from the injury reserve list this week but are still listed on questionable for their first start back from injury, if both are able to come back that will make a huge impact on the both sides of the ball for the Cobras. The Fayetteville Mustangs have will enter the game without ironman player Cris Page and wide receiver Juilus Gregory.

The Cobras defense has dominated games this season, especially at home. Defensive back Kenny Veal II will look to have another stand out performance in the Snake Pit; he is currently second in the NAL for interceptions with five total. On offense quarterback Malik Henry is having his best season as a Cobra with over 54 passes for 658 yards for 11 passing touchdowns, and three rushing touchdowns. This season his star receiver has been fellow veteran Cobra Lance Evans who leads the Cobras with eight touchdowns who now has over 400 yards receiving yards and 28 catches so far this season. On special teams another veteran Cobra makes headlines Ironman Adam Smith (KR/WR/DB) has taken the NAL by storm leading the league in kick returns for touchdowns with three total returns for touchdowns with nine games left to play. Kicker TC Stevens, another Cobras veteran is leading the league in deuces as he reached five so far this season.

It is no doubt that the Cobras have developed talent better than any NAL franchise in the past few seasons and this year are enjoying the rewards of that investment as the Cobras are picked at the #1 seed in many polls and are one win and a Gunslingers loss away from the NAL standings number one spot. This game could make the difference and the fans in the stands will make all the difference again! Get your tickets call 336-455-7232 or visit carolinacobras.com. Can’t make the game?
