Orlando Predators Come to Greensboro to Challenge Home Win Streak

GREENSBORO, NC –  Your #2 Ranked Carolina Cobras (2-1) return to the Snake Pit to take on the (1-2) Orlando Predators in the Greensboro Coliseum Sunday, May 14 with kickoff scheduled for 3pm. With both wins coming from home Carolina is excited to keep the undefeated 2023 home record going! However, they will have to do so against a well-rested, restocked Orlando Predators team that recently took down the Jacksonville Sharks after their bye week while collecting many All-NAL players from the Albany Empire including league MVP WR Darius Prince and All-NAL defensive back Dywane Hollis.

Last home game the Cobras held strong, taking down the NAL defending champion Albany Empire 56-49 in the Snake Pit. The Cobras defense held the Empire defense to 7 points in the fourth quarter while Carolina’s quarterback Malik Henry threw five touchdowns in this contest to propel the Cobras to their second win at home. The play of the game would come from the ground game as DL/FB Kevin Voyles had a team record 48-yard rushing touchdown that amplified the crowd in the coliseum.

This week the Cobras will have their hands full as the Predators have had time to right their ship as new head coach Herky Walls not only secured a win against a rival the Jacksonville Sharks but he gained league-leading weapons one week later. For the Cobras to keep their win streak at home alive we will need the same loud crowd that packed the snake pit against the empire. A big game from defensive back Kenny Veal who has already pulled a hat trick this season with three interceptions in one game. Veal will be busy with a star powered receiving core now led by the NAL MVP Darius Prince.

Offensively, the Cobras have shown great diversity at star power as we’ve seen receivers Lance Evans have a career night one week and then Adam Smith steal the show another week. The flexibility at that position may be a major factor in preparing for this week causing Orlando to struggle on targets. Coach Fuller made the Cobras offense even more complex this week by adding former Jacksonville Shark receiver Nyqwan Murray who came off a great rookie season with Jacksonville last season as one of the teams top receivers.

Overall, to beat this new Orlando Predators team it will take solid play from offense, defense, and special teams. This weekends game is the only NAL matchup for this week so enjoy prime time arena football by joining the Snake Pit and buying tickets by calling 336-455-7232 or watch the online at carolinacobras.com, the National Arena League’s YouTube Channel or by visiting the league website at nationalarenaleague.com.
