Game Preview: Cobras vs. Warbirds Week 13

Cobras Are Hungry for Another Home Win

GREENSBORO, NC –  The (5-4) Carolina Cobras had a very up and down three game road stretch that kicked off with the teams highest scoring victory with a 86-59 massacre in Odessa, TX. Unfortunately, the battle had it’s effects as the team struggled the next two road games with a upset in Orlando, FL featuring a rising Predators team that defeated the Cobras 59-54. In hopes to bounce back, the road weary team entered the Shark Tank in Jacksonville, FL where they fell in another close game 61-52. No team in the league is more excited to return home to their fans as the Cobras play in the Snake Pit tonight for the first time since June 3.

Tonight, the Carolina Cobras take on the West Texas Warbirds (2-8). West Texas had a crushing defeat last time they faced the Cobras allowing Carolina to rampage over 80 points against them. Since then West Texas has made a lot of changes and the play on the field has really shown up as they faced the San Antonio Gunslingers back to back each time coming within 10-points of upsetting the #1 ranked team in the NAL. If West Texas continues to fight to the last play with major performances from their ironman star Trevon Shorts, their star receiver Jalen Childress who scored three receiving touchdowns on the Gunslingers last week, and the NAL’s leading kicker in Warbirds Kevin Didio-Webber it’ll be a great heavyweight four-round fight tonight in Greensboro.

Banged up, injured, and road tired the Carolina Cobras have no time to rest tonight they need a win to preserve their winning record, impressive home record, and most importantly their #3 seed in the NAL playoffs where the Cobras are currently projected. Both the Warbirds and Predators are starving to climb up the standings and the difference between the three and four seed is huge as the #4 seed will face the top team on the road in the NAL playoffs. So far, a #1 seed in the NAL has never lost in the playoffs. Carolina will hang on to fight for their rightful place in the playoffs but the wolves are howling. Banged up may be putting it lightly the Cobras had one of the larger injury reports this week. Tonight they will be without lineman Josh Fields also leaving many question marks on offense and defense as four Cobras stars are listed as questionable WR/DB Jalen Rima, DB/WR Miles Kelly, FB/LB Kevin Voyles, and defensive back and captain Mike Green. Fuller will have his hands full if the majority are ruled out as those are big shoes to fill, there is no doubt that Carolina will look at their bench for players to step up to defend the Snake Pit.

Carolina stars like LB/FB Zack Brown, WR/DB Kenny Veal, and receiver Lance Evans are ready to return to the Snake Pit to put on a spectacular pre-fourth of July show for the fans. Evans and Quarterback Malik Henry have connected ten times for touchdowns already this season a big game for this dynamic duo could be a huge difference in this game. Speaking of difference makers, Cobras kicker TC Stevens will need to be a key factor as special teams could come in clutch if we see another close game. Stevens will face the current NAL leader in kicker Didio-Webber but the Cobras All-NAL kicker has played very well in the Snake Pit this season and will defend the Snake Pit like the rest of this homecoming Cobras roster.

Let’s hold the fireworks until the victory celebration, sit back Cobra Nation, you're in for a real big show tonight! If you can't make the game, you can watch online tonight.
