GAME PREVIEW: Cobras Warbirds Week 14

Rematch Moves South to Texas

GREENSBORO, NC –  The (6-4) Carolina Cobras got a great warm welcome fitting for the Fourth of July Weekend as Cobras fans poured into the Greensboro Coliseum last weekend to see the Cobras kickoff for the first time in weeks in the Snake Pit and James Fuller’s Carolina Cobras did not disappoint offense, defense, special teams, coaching staff the Cobras took off full speed and played a great arena football game for the team’s homecoming matchup against the West Texas Warbirds who are now 2-9 losing to the Cobras 50-41.

Big matchups include the rushing attack between both teams. The Cobras rushing attack combined for 47 rushing yards and a FB/LB Zack Brown touchdown while the Warbirds rushing attack last week 36 yards and two rushing touchdowns with FB/LB Trevon Shorts and quarterback Chris Ware. In air battle the Cobras led the way with two receivers scoring two touchdowns with Lance Evans and Adam Smith. Quarterback Malik Henry finished the night with 29 completions, six total touchdowns, 348 passing yards. West Texas only managed 159 passing yards and two touchdowns. Which leads to the most pivotal factor in tonights game who secondary will have the best performance. Carolina was dominate with defensive back Mike Green racking up nine tackles and a interception. However, the Warbirds also have some talent in the secondary as Svante Davenport led both teams with three pass breakups and also had a key fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Another great matchup to look out for is the two top NAL kickers going head to head tonight with Carolina’s TC Stevens and Warbirds Didio-Weber who both had deuces last week. TC won the extra point battle going 6/7 but Didio-Weber won the field goal battle knocking down two field goals his longest from 21-yards. Let see if the change in arena effects either kicker as if one has a breakout game it could really make a difference as the two teams had a game last week that came within 10 points.
