Triple Threat Veteran Returns to Hunt for a Championship Ring

GREENSBORO, NC –  The Carolina Cobras announce the signing of veteran WR/DB/KR Adam Smith (5’10, 190). A Guilford College product stayed in the local area for his productive pro career where he spent the majority of it with the Carolina Cobras and returns after a phenomenal 2023 campaign with the Carolina Cobras where Smith was named a Special Teams Player of the Week and finished the year as a All-NAL Wide Receiver helping the Cobras to another playoff & championship appearance.


Smith's career high season in 2023 included 60 receptions for 652 receiving yards, 13 receiving touchdowns, and four rushing touchdowns in the regular season. The speedy athlete was an ironman player on the Cobras roster where he also played defensive back, he racked up 15 tackles and one interception. Smith served as a triple threat for the Cobras also returning kicks for Greensboro. In 2023, he led the Carolina Cobras with 26 kick returns for 522 yards and led the National Arena League with three kick returns for a touchdown last season.


During the 2022 season, Adam Smith caught 28 passes for 354 yards, and hauled in three touchdowns. He also added four tackles and one forced fumble. Following the 2022 season Smith was invited to showcase his abilities at the XFL Combine where he competed in September, 2022. Smith started in four regular season games in 2021, recording two receptions for 57 yards and one receiving touchdown. Smith started his career with the Cobras in 2019, Smith helped the Cobras to a 9-5 record, a playoff victory over the Massachusetts Pirates and an appearance in the 2019 NAL Championship game against Jacksonville. Beyond the Cobras Smith played arena football for the Columbus Lions, Richmond Roughriders, Triangle Torch, and Cape Fear Heroes.


“2023 was really a breakout season for Adam. Between his contributions as part of our receiving corps coupled with his dominance in our return game, Adam finally showed the NAL what we already knew”. Stated Head Coach Brandon Negron. “He cares about his family, his relationships, and winning!” Coach continued, “He is a leader in our locker room. We’ll win a ring for each other this year, but moreover, I want to see Adam have an ALL-NAL season…he is long overdue!”
