2019 First Team All-NAL Linebacker Comes to Carolina

GREENSBORO, NC - Shark hunting season continues at the Snake Pit as the Carolina Cobras earlier this week announced the signing of former Sharks Quarterback Jonathan Bane and today announce the signing of former Jacksonville Shark linebacker / fullback and 2019 1st Team All-NAL Teamer Zack Brown for the 2022 NAL Season.

Zack Brown (6’1”, 255 Ferrum College) is well known in the NAL as a true ironman and going into 2022 with the new Ironman rules in the NAL, is looking to thrive.  His first splash in football was in college at Ferrum where he played Defensive Back and was second team USA South All Conference second team in 2007 and followed that up with a first team recognition in 2008.  In 2013 he was recognized as part of the 50th Anniversary Football Team for the USA South Conference.  Brown is now going into his fifth season of arena action, getting his start in 2017 with the Georgia Firebirds of the NAL where he had 8 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 interception, to go along with 26 rushes for 79 yards and TD as well as 5 receptions for 29 yards and another TD.  In 2018 Brown went to Atlanta to play for the Havoc (AAL) where he led them to a championship and was named an AAL All-Star at LB.  2019 took Brown to the Jacksonville Sharks where he was a major player in their 15-1 regular season and eventual Championship run, being named 1st Team Defensive All-NAL at Linebacker, totaling up 32 tackles, 7.5 sacks, broke up 5 passes, forced a fumble and blocked a kick, as well as recovering three more fumbles for the Sharks during the season.  On offense he had 20 yards rushing with 5 TDs on 16 carries, and 16 yards receiving with a TD in the regular season as well as three more TDs in the postseason rushing.  In an injury shortened 2021 for the Sharks Brown still posted 5 tackles and another 2 sacks on the defensive side and yet another TD rushing.  Brown is excited to be in Carolina and had this to say about his decision to join Cobra Nation “I chose Carolina because I wanted to play for Coach Res again, and Coach Res has been trying to get me to play for him ever since we won our championship in 2018 with the Atlanta Havoc, so I felt like this was the right time for me to play for him again and bring another championship to Greensboro!”

Brown’s message to Cobra Nation is, “I am ready to come in and work hard, so let’s get it!”

GM/Head Coach Josh Resignalo had this to say about Brown, “Zack is a dynamic player and his abilities will make him a huge weapon with the Ironman rules. Zack is one of the hardest workers I know. He was a big part of my first championship season in 2018 when played with me in Atlanta. He will have an immediate impact on day 1. Zack has been playing some great football the last couple seasons and he will be a leader both on and off the field. He will put up career numbers this season no doubt!”
