PREGAME NOTES

Four 1-0 weeks complete:  The Cobras went to 4-0 on the season.  They completed a successful road trip to Orlando taking down the Predators 36-24.

Short Week vs Two Weeks Off:  Friday night the Cobras will be playing their second game in six days after coming off the long road trip to Orlando, while the Gunslingers have had the last two weeks off.  Which way will the momentum play out?

Why This Game is Important:  The Cobras have a commanding 1.5 game lead in the NAL after four weeks, over both the Albany Empire and Columbus Lions who are both 2-1.  San Antonio is coming in winless, after dropping their first two games at home.  You know that the Gunslingers have spent the last two weeks preparing for this game, and when you are undefeated, everyone wants to be the first to give you that first loss.  Will the Gunslingers be able to hit the target?

Who is San Antonio?  The Gunslingers are the newest member of the NAL, and played their first two weeks at home before having two weeks off to prepare for the Cobras.  Through two games they have used two QBs, with Robert Kent getting the start in the last game against the Lions where he went 16-28-0 with 5 touchdowns and 207 yards passing.  The top three receivers for the Gunslingers are Kali Rashaad who has nine receptions for 120 yards, Marcel Brooks who has nine receptions for 92 yards and a TD, and Neiko Creamer who has six receptions for 52 yards and two touchdowns.  Kadir Chisholm debuted with the Gunslingers in week two as well, hauling in three receptions for 41 yards and two touchdowns.  On defense Tony Sparrow (2) and Marcel Brooks (1) are the interception leaders on the team while Kali Rashaad (13), Codie Brooks (12), and Marcel Brooks (9) lead the team with tackles.  This is a very feisty bunch that took the Lions to the last play of the game in their last game.

Next Opportunity:  Last Sunday Carolina started their best season yet at 4-0, eclipsing the 3-0 start of the 2019 team.  Will this be their fifth 1-0 week in five weeks?  Or will the Gunslingers hit center mass to drop the Cobras in the Snake Pit?

Coach Says:  We asked Head Coach Josh Resignalo, his thought going into the game, and specifically, how hard is to prepare for a team with only two weeks of tape, and then two weeks off, and his response was “It’s not that hard.  We have the basics for what they do.  We have to focus on what we do and execute our game; it doesn’t matter who we play.  Our focus is 1-0 each week and take care of our business and control what we can control.  There are some good players on San Antonio, but we are our biggest opponent.  We must play within ourselves.  We are 4-0 and have not played our best football yet.  No one Is satisfied until we get through to the end.  Until then, it’s 1-0 each week”
